I use the 10 oz setting on my coffee machine, which tends to dilute the flavor compared to the standard 8 oz cup size (despite manufacturers claiming that 6 oz is the “new” standard, I still consider 8 oz to be a proper cup). I also add a splash of non-fat milk and a couple of sweeteners. I know this might be seen as sacrilege, but it provides context for my review. Keep in mind that this is subjective to my personal taste, but I hope it helps others understand what to expect.
I find this coffee enjoyable. I’m not a fan of “bright” coffees with berry or citrus notes, nor do I like acidic or weak flavors. I prefer a robust coffee that offers strength without bitterness in my usual preparation. My current favorite is Starbucks dark French roast, which I find smoother than the Costco option, although it’s not as affordable. While it may be a case of suggestion, I can definitely detect the dark cocoa and caramelized sugar notes in the Verona. I notice the cocoa in the mouthfeel as I drink; swirling it around brings out the dark chocolate flavor. The coffee is smooth and has a nice mouthfeel, allowing the flavors to shine through. In terms of price, it’s never going to compete with budget options, but if you search around on Amazon, you can find decent pricing per k-cup.
I’m actually torn between preferring the Bux French roast dark or this Verona. I suspect I’ll keep a supply of both on hand.

The Starbucks Sumatra K-Cups had a great flavor, but the French Roast was quite disappointing. It had a strange, chemical taste that didn’t resemble coffee at all and certainly didn’t reflect the usual Starbucks quality.
